ஶ்ரீப⁴க³வானுவாச
இத³ம் து தே கு³ஹ்யதமம் ப்ரவக்ஷ்யாம்யனஸூயவே ।
ஜ்ஞானம் விஜ்ஞானஸஹிதம் யஜ்ஜ்ஞாத்வா மோக்ஷ்யஸேஶஉபா⁴த் ॥ 1 ॥
Meaning
ஶ்ரீ-ப⁴க³வான் உவாச — the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; இத³ம் — this; து — but; தே — unto you; கு³ஹ்ய-தமம் — the most confidential; ப்ரவக்ஷ்யாமி — I am speaking; அனஸூயவே — to the nonenvious; ஜ்ஞானம் — knowledge; விஜ்ஞான — realized knowledge; ஸஹிதம் — with; யத் — which; ஜ்ஞாத்வா — knowing; மோக்ஷ்யஸே — you will be released; அஶுபா⁴த் — from this miserable material existence.
Translation
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: My dear Arjuna, because you are never envious of Me, I shall impart to you this most confidential knowledge and realization, knowing which you shall be relieved of the miseries of material existence.
ஶ்லோக:
ராஜவித்³யா ராஜகு³ஹ்யம் பவித்ரமித³முத்தமம் ।
ப்ரத்யக்ஷாவக³மம் த⁴ர்ம்யம் ஸுஸுக²ம் கர்துமவ்யயம் ॥ 2 ॥
Meaning
ராஜ-வித்³யா — the king of education; ராஜ-கு³ஹ்யம் — the king of confidential knowledge; பவித்ரம் — the purest; இத³ம் — this; உத்தமம் — transcendental; ப்ரத்யக்ஷ — by direct experience; அவக³மம் — understood; த⁴ர்ம்யம் — the principle of religion; ஸு-ஸுக²ம் — very happy; கர்தும் — to execute; அவ்யயம் — everlasting.
Translation
This knowledge is the king of education, the most secret of all secrets. It is the purest knowledge, and because it gives direct perception of the self by realization, it is the perfection of religion. It is everlasting, and it is joyfully performed.
ஶ்லோக:
அஶ்ரத்³த³தா⁴னா: புருஷா த⁴ர்மஸ்யாஸ்ய பரந்தப ।
அப்ராப்ய மாம் நிவர்தந்தே ம்ருத்யுஸம்ஸாரவர்த்மனி ॥ 3 ॥
Meaning
அஶ்ரத்³த³தா⁴னா: — those who are faithless; புருஷா: — such persons; த⁴ர்மஸ்ய — toward the process of religion; அஸ்ய — this; பரம்-தப — O killer of the enemies; அப்ராப்ய — without obtaining; மாம் — Me; நிவர்தந்தே — come back; ம்ருத்யு — of death; ஸம்ஸார — in material existence; வர்த்மனி — on the path.
Translation
Those who are not faithful in this devotional service cannot attain Me, O conqueror of enemies. Therefore they return to the path of birth and death in this material world.
ஶ்லோக:
மயா ததமித³ம் ஸர்வம் ஜக³த³வ்யக்தமூர்தினா ।
மத்ஸ்தா²னி ஸர்வபூ⁴தானி ந சாஹம் தேஷ்வவஸ்தி²த: ॥ 4 ॥
Meaning
மயா — by Me; ததம் — pervaded; இத³ம் — this; ஸர்வம் — all; ஜக³த் — cosmic manifestation; அவ்யக்த-மூர்தினா — by the unmanifested form; மத்-ஸ்தா²னி — in Me; ஸர்வ-பூ⁴தானி — all living entities; ந — not; ச — also; அஹம் — I; தேஷு — in them; அவஸ்தி²த: — situated.
Translation
By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them.
ஶ்லோக:
ந ச மத்ஸ்தா²னி பூ⁴தானி பஶ்ய மே யோக³மைஶ்வரம் ।
பூ⁴தப்⁴ருன்ன ச பூ⁴தஸ்தோ² மமாத்மா பூ⁴தபா⁴வன: ॥ 5 ॥
Meaning
ந — never; ச — also; மத்-ஸ்தா²னி — situated in Me; பூ⁴தானி — all creation; பஶ்ய — just see; மே — My; யோக³ம் ஐஶ்வரம் — inconceivable mystic power; பூ⁴த-ப்⁴ருத் — the maintainer of all living entities; ந — never; ச — also; பூ⁴த-ஸ்த:² — in the cosmic manifestation; மம — My; ஆத்மா — Self; பூ⁴த-பா⁴வன: — the source of all manifestations.
Translation
And yet everything that is created does not rest in Me. Behold My mystic opulence! Although I am the maintainer of all living entities and although I am everywhere, I am not a part of this cosmic manifestation, for My Self is the very source of creation.
ஶ்லோக:
யதா²காஶஸ்தி²தோ நித்யம் வாயு: ஸர்வத்ரகோ³ மஹான் ।
ததா² ஸர்வாணி பூ⁴தானி மத்ஸ்தா²னீத்யுபதா⁴ரய ॥ 6 ॥
Meaning
யதா² — just as; ஆகாஶ-ஸ்தி²த: — situated in the sky; நித்யம் — always; வாயு: — the wind; ஸர்வத்ர-க:³ — blowing everywhere; மஹான் — great; ததா² — similarly; ஸர்வாணி பூ⁴தானி — all created beings; மத்-ஸ்தா²னி — situated in Me; இதி — thus; உபதா⁴ரய — try to understand.
Translation
Understand that as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, all created beings rest in Me.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸர்வபூ⁴தானி கௌந்தேய ப்ரக்ருதிம் யாந்தி மாமிகாம் ।
கல்பக்ஷயே புனஸ்தானி கல்பாதௌ³ விஸ்ருஜாம்யஹம் ॥ 7 ॥
Meaning
ஸர்வ-பூ⁴தானி — all created entities; கௌந்தேய — O son of Kuntī; ப்ரக்ருதிம் — nature; யாந்தி — enter; மாமிகாம் — My; கல்ப-க்ஷயே — at the end of the millennium; புன: — again; தானி — all those; கல்ப-ஆதௌ³ — in the beginning of the millennium; விஸ்ருஜாமி — create; அஹம் — I.
Translation
O son of Kuntī, at the end of the millennium all material manifestations enter into My nature, and at the beginning of another millennium, by My potency, I create them again.
ஶ்லோக:
ப்ரக்ருதிம் ஸ்வாமவஷ்டப்⁴ய விஸ்ருஜாமி புன: புன: ।
பூ⁴தக்³ராமமிமம் க்ருத்ஸ்னமவஶம் ப்ரக்ருதேர்வஶாத் ॥ 8 ॥
Meaning
ப்ரக்ருதிம் — the material nature; ஸ்வாம் — of My personal Self; அவஷ்டப்⁴ய — entering into; விஸ்ருஜாமி — I create; புன: புன: — again and again; பூ⁴த-க்³ராமம் — all the cosmic manifestations; இமம் — these; க்ருத்ஸ்னம் — in total; அவஶம் — automatically; ப்ரக்ருதே: — of the force of nature; வஶாத் — under obligation.
Translation
The whole cosmic order is under Me. Under My will it is automatically manifested again and again, and under My will it is annihilated at the end.
ஶ்லோக:
ந ச மாம் தானி கர்மாணி நிப³த்⁴னந்தி த⁴னஞ்ஜய ।
உதா³ஸீனவதா³ஸீனமஸக்தம் தேஷு கர்மஸு ॥ 9 ॥
Meaning
ந — never; ச — also; மாம் — Me; தானி — all those; கர்மாணி — activities; நிப³த்⁴னந்தி — bind; த⁴னம்-ஜய — O conqueror of riches; உதா³ஸீன-வத் — as neutral; ஆஸீனம் — situated; அஸக்தம் — without attraction; தேஷு — for those; கர்மஸு — activities.
Translation
O Dhanañjaya, all this work cannot bind Me. I am ever detached from all these material activities, seated as though neutral.
ஶ்லோக:
மயாத்⁴யக்ஷேண ப்ரக்ருதி: ஸூயதே ஸசராசரம் ।
ஹேதுனானேன கௌந்தேய ஜக³த்³விபரிவர்ததே ॥ 1௦ ॥
Meaning
மயா — by Me; அத்⁴யக்ஷேண — by superintendence; ப்ரக்ருதி: — material nature; ஸூயதே — manifests; ஸ — both; சர-அசரம் — the moving and the nonmoving; ஹேதுனா — for the reason; அனேன — this; கௌந்தேய — O son of Kuntī; ஜக³த் — the cosmic manifestation; விபரிவர்ததே — is working.
Translation
This material nature, which is one of My energies, is working under My direction, O son of Kuntī, producing all moving and nonmoving beings. Under its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again.
ஶ்லோக:
அவஜானந்தி மாம் மூடா⁴ மானுஷீம் தனுமாஶ்ரிதம் ।
பரம் பா⁴வமஜானந்தோ மம பூ⁴தமஹேஶ்வரம் ॥ 11 ॥
Meaning
அவஜானந்தி — deride; மாம் — Me; மூடா⁴: — foolish men; மானுஷீம் — in a human form; தனும் — a body; ஆஶ்ரிதம் — assuming; பரம் — transcendental; பா⁴வம் — nature; அஜானந்த: — not knowing; மம — My; பூ⁴த — of everything that be; மஹா-ஈஶ்வரம் — the supreme proprietor.
Translation
Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be.
ஶ்லோக:
மோகா⁴ஶா மோக⁴கர்மாணோ மோகஜ⁴்ஞானா விசேதஸ: ।
ராக்ஷஸீமாஸுரீம் சைவ ப்ரக்ருதிம் மோஹினீம் ஶ்ரிதா: ॥ 12 ॥
Meaning
மோக-⁴ஆஶா: — baffled in their hopes; மோக-⁴கர்மாண: — baffled in fruitive activities; மோக-⁴ஜ்ஞானா: — baffled in knowledge; விசேதஸ: — bewildered; ராக்ஷஸீம் — demonic; ஆஸுரீம் — atheistic; ச — and; ஏவ — certainly; ப்ரக்ருதிம் — nature; மோஹினீம் — bewildering; ஶ்ரிதா: — taking shelter of.
Translation
Those who are thus bewildered are attracted by demonic and atheistic views. In that deluded condition, their hopes for liberation, their fruitive activities, and their culture of knowledge are all defeated.
ஶ்லோக:
மஹாத்மானஸ்து மாம் பார்த² தை³வீம் ப்ரக்ருதிமாஶ்ரிதா: ।
பஜ⁴ந்த்யனந்யமனஸோ ஜ்ஞாத்வா பூ⁴தாதி³மவ்யயம் ॥ 13 ॥
Meaning
மஹா-ஆத்மான: — the great souls; து — but; மாம் — unto Me; பார்த² — O son of Prithā; தை³வீம் — divine; ப்ரக்ருதிம் — nature; ஆஶ்ரிதா: — having taken shelter of; பஜ⁴ந்தி — render service; அனந்ய-மனஸ: — without deviation of the mind; ஜ்ஞாத்வா — knowing; பூ⁴த — of creation; ஆதி³ம் — the origin; அவ்யயம் — inexhaustible.
Translation
O son of Prithā, those who are not deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature. They are fully engaged in devotional service because they know Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, original and inexhaustible.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸததம் கீர்தயந்தோ மாம் யதந்தஶ்ச த்³ருட⁴வ்ரதா: ।
நமஸ்யந்தஶ்ச மாம் ப⁴க்த்யஆ நித்யயுக்தா உபாஸதே ॥ 14 ॥
Meaning
ஸததம் — always; கீர்தயந்த: — chanting; மாம் — about Me; யதந்த: — fully endeavoring; ச — also; த்³ருட-⁴வ்ரதா: — with determination; நமஸ்யந்த: — offering obeisances; ச — and; மாம் — Me; ப⁴க்த்யா — in devotion; நித்ய-யுக்தா: — perpetually engaged; உபாஸதே — worship.
Translation
Always chanting My glories, endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion.
ஶ்லோக:
ஜ்ஞானயஜ்ஞேன சாப்யன்யே யஜந்தோ மாமுபாஸதே ।
ஏகத்வேன ப்ருத²க்த்வேன ப³ஹுதா⁴ விஶ்வதோமுக²ம் ॥ 15 ॥
Meaning
ஜ்ஞான-யஜ்ஞேன — by cultivation of knowledge; ச — also; அபி — certainly; அன்யே — others; யஜந்த: — sacrificing; மாம் — Me; உபாஸதே — worship; ஏகத்வேன — in oneness; ப்ருத²க்த்வேன — in duality; ப³ஹுதா⁴ — in diversity; விஶ்வத:-முக²ம் — and in the universal form.
Translation
Others, who engage in sacrifice by the cultivation of knowledge, worship the Supreme Lord as the one without a second, as diverse in many, and in the universal form.
ஶ்லோக:
அஹம் க்ரதுரஹம் யஜ்ஞ: ஸ்வதா⁴ஹமஹமௌஷத⁴ம் ।
மன்த்ரோஹமஹமேவாஜ்யமஹமக்³னஇரஹம் ஹுதம் ॥ 16 ॥
Meaning
அஹம் — I; க்ரது: — Vedic ritual; அஹம் — I; யஜ்ஞ: — smriti sacrifice; ஸ்வதா⁴ — oblation; அஹம் — I; அஹம் — I; ஔஷத⁴ம் — healing herb; மந்த்ர: — transcendental chant; அஹம் — I; அஹம் — I; ஏவ — certainly; ஆஜ்யம் — melted butter; அஹம் — I; அக்³னி: — fire; அஹம் — I; ஹுதம் — offering.
Translation
But it is I who am the ritual, I the sacrifice, the offering to the ancestors, the healing herb, the transcendental chant. I am the butter and the fire and the offering.
ஶ்லோக:
பிதாஹமஸ்ய ஜக³தோ மாதா தா⁴தா பிதாமஹ: ।
வேத்³யம் பவித்ரம் ஓங்கார ருக் ஸாம யஜுரேவ ச ॥ 17 ॥
Meaning
பிதா — father; அஹம் — I; அஸ்ய — of this; ஜக³த: — universe; மாதா — mother; தா⁴தா — supporter; பிதாமஹ: — grandfather; வேத்³யம் — what is to be known; பவித்ரம் — that which purifies; ஓம்-கார — the syllable oM; ருக் — the rig Veda; ஸாம — the Sāma Veda; யஜு: — the Yajur Veda; ஏவ — certainly; ச — and.
Translation
I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable oM. I am also the rig, the Sāma and the Yajur Vedas.
ஶ்லோக:
க³திர்ப⁴ர்தா ப்ரபு⁴: ஸாக்ஷீ நிவாஸ: ஶரணம் ஸுஹ்ருத் ।
ப்ரப⁴வ: ப்ரலய: ஸ்தா²னம் நிதா⁴னம் பீ³ஜமவ்யயம் ॥ 18 ॥
Meaning
க³தி: — goal; ப⁴ர்தா — sustainer; ப்ரபு⁴: — Lord; ஸாக்ஷீ — witness; நிவாஸ: — abode; ஶரணம் — refuge; ஸு-ஹ்ருத் — most intimate friend; ப்ரப⁴வ: — creation; ப்ரலய: — dissolution; ஸ்தா²னம் — ground; நிதா⁴னம் — resting place; பீ³ஜம் — seed; அவ்யயம் — imperishable.
Translation
I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge and the most dear friend. I am the creation and the annihilation, the basis of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed.

தபாம்யஹமஹம் வர்ஷம் நிக்³ருஹ்ணாம்யுத்ஸ்ருஜாமி ச ।
அம்ருதம் சைவ ம்ருத்யுஶ்ச ஸத³ஸச்சஆஹமர்ஜுன ॥ 19 ॥
Meaning
தபாமி — give heat; அஹம் — I; அஹம் — I; வர்ஷம் — rain; நிக்³ருஹ்ணாமி — withhold; உத்ஸ்ருஜாமி — send forth; ச — and; அம்ருதம் — immortality; ச — and; ஏவ — certainly; ம்ருத்யு: — death; ச — and; ஸத் — spirit; அஸத் — matter; ச — and; அஹம் — I; அர்ஜுன — O Arjuna.
Translation
O Arjuna, I give heat, and I withhold and send forth the rain. I am immortality, and I am also death personified. Both spirit and matter are in Me.
ஶ்லோக:
த்ரைவித்³யா மாம் ஸோமபா: பூதபாபா
யஜ்ஞைரிஷ்ட்வா ஸ்வர்க³திம் ப்ரார்த²யந்தே ।
தே புண்யமாஸாத்³ய ஸுரேந்த்³ரலோக-
மஶ்னந்தி தி³வ்யாந்தி³வி தே³வபோ⁴கா³ன் ॥ 2௦ ॥
Meaning
த்ரை-வித்³யா: — the knowers of the three Vedas; மாம் — Me; ஸோம-பா: — drinkers of soma juice; பூத — purified; பாபா: — of sins; யஜ்ஞை: — with sacrifices; இஷ்ட்வா — worshiping; ஸ்வ:-க³திம் — passage to heaven; ப்ரார்த²யந்தே — pray for; தே — they; புண்யம் — pious; ஆஸாத்³ய — attaining; ஸுர-இந்த்³ர — of Indra; லோகம் — the world; அஶ்னந்தி — enjoy; தி³வ்யான் — celestial; தி³வி — in heaven; தே³வ-போ⁴கா³ன் — the pleasures of the gods.
Translation
Those who study the Vedas and drink the soma juice, seeking the heavenly planets, worship Me indirectly. Purified of sinful reactions, they take birth on the pious, heavenly planet of Indra, where they enjoy godly delights.
ஶ்லோக:
தே தம் பு⁴க்த்வா ஸ்வர்க³லோகம் விஶாலம்
க்ஷீணே புண்யே மர்த்யலோகம் விஶந்தி ।
ஏவம் த்ரயீத⁴ர்மமனுப்ரபன்னா
க³தாக³தம் காமகாமா லப⁴ந்தே ॥ 21 ॥
Meaning
தே — they; தம் — that; பு⁴க்த்வா — having enjoyed; ஸ்வர்க-³லோகம் — heaven; விஶாலம் — vast; க்ஷீணே — being exhausted; புண்யே — the results of their pious activities; மர்த்ய-லோகம் — to the mortal earth; விஶந்தி — fall down; ஏவம் — thus; த்ரயீ — of the three Vedas; த⁴ர்மம் — doctrines; அனுப்ரபன்னா: — following; க³த-ஆக³தம் — death and birth; காம-காமா: — desiring sense enjoyments; லப⁴ந்தே — attain.
Translation
When they have thus enjoyed vast heavenly sense pleasure and the results of their pious activities are exhausted, they return to this mortal planet again. Thus those who seek sense enjoyment by adhering to the principles of the three Vedas achieve only repeated birth and death.
ஶ்லோக:
அனந்யாஶ்சிந்தயந்தோ மாம் யே ஜனா: பர்யுபாஸதே ।
தேஷாம் நித்யாபி⁴யுக்தானாம் யோக³க்ஷேமம் வஹாம்யஹம் ॥ 22 ॥
Meaning
அனந்யா: — having no other object; சிந்தயந்த: — concentrating; மாம் — on Me; யே — those who; ஜனா: — persons; பர்யுபாஸதே — properly worship; தேஷாம் — of them; நித்ய — always; அபி⁴யுக்தானாம் — fixed in devotion; யோக³ — requirements; க்ஷேமம் — protection; வஹாமி — carry; அஹம் — I.
Translation
But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form – to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have.
ஶ்லோக:
யேப்யன்யதே³வதாப⁴க்தா யஜந்தே ஶ்ரத்³த⁴யான்விதா: ।
தேபி மாமேவ கௌந்தேய யஜந்த்யவிதி⁴பூர்வகம் ॥ 23 ॥
Meaning
யே — those who; அபி — also; அன்ய — of other; தே³வதா — gods; ப⁴க்தா: — devotees; யஜந்தே — worship; ஶ்ரத்³த⁴யா அன்விதா: — with faith; தே — they; அபி — also; மாம் — Me; ஏவ — only; கௌந்தேய — O son of Kuntī; யஜந்தி — they worship; அவிதி⁴-பூர்வகம் — in a wrong way.
Translation
Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually worship only Me, O son of Kuntī, but they do so in a wrong way.
ஶ்லோக:
அஹம் ஹி ஸர்வயஜ்ஞானாம் போ⁴க்தா ச ப்ரபு⁴ரேவ ச ।
ந து மாமபி⁴ஜானந்தி தத்த்வேனாதஶ்ச்யவந்தி தே ॥ 24 ॥
Meaning
அஹம் — I; ஹி — surely; ஸர்வ — of all; யஜ்ஞானாம் — sacrifices; போ⁴க்தா — the enjoyer; ச — and; ப்ரபு⁴: — the Lord; ஏவ — also; ச — and; ந — not; து — but; மாம் — Me; அபி⁴ஜானந்தி — they know; தத்த்வேன — in reality; அத: — therefore; ச்யவந்தி — fall down; தே — they.
Translation
I am the only enjoyer and master of all sacrifices. Therefore, those who do not recognize My true transcendental nature fall down.
ஶ்லோக:
யாந்தி தே³வவ்ரதா தே³வான்பித்ரூன்யாந்தி பித்ருவ்ரதா: ।
பூ⁴தானி யாந்தி பூ⁴தேஜ்யா யாந்தி மத்³யாஜினோபி மாம் ॥ 25 ॥
Meaning
யாந்தி — go; தே³வ-வ்ரதா: — worshipers of demigods; தே³வான் — to the demigods; பித்ரூன் — to the ancestors; யாந்தி — go; பித்ரு-வ்ரதா: — worshipers of ancestors; பூ⁴தானி — to the ghosts and spirits; யாந்தி — go; பூ⁴த-இஜ்யா: — worshipers of ghosts and spirits; யாந்தி — go; மத் — My; யாஜின: — devotees; அபி — but; மாம் — unto Me.
Translation
Those who worship the demigods will take birth among the demigods; those who worship the ancestors go to the ancestors; those who worship ghosts and spirits will take birth among such beings; and those who worship Me will live with Me.
ஶ்லோக:
பத்ரம் புஷ்பம் ப²லம் தோயம் யோ மே ப⁴க்த்யஆ ப்ரயச்ச²தி ।
தத³ஹம் ப⁴க்த்யஉபஹ்ருதமஶ்னஆமி ப்ரயதாத்மன: ॥ 26 ॥
Meaning
பத்ரம் — a leaf; புஷ்பம் — a flower; ப²லம் — a fruit; தோயம் — water; ய: — whoever; மே — unto Me; ப⁴க்த்யா — with devotion; ப்ரயச்சதி — offers; தத் — that; அஹம் — I; ப⁴க்தி-உபஹ்ருதம் — offered in devotion; அஶ்னாமி — accept; ப்ரயத-ஆத்மன: — from one in pure consciousness.
Translation
If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water, I will accept it.
ஶ்லோக:
யத்கரோஷி யத³ஶ்னஆஸி யஜ்ஜஉஹோஷி த³தா³ஸி யத் ।
யத்தபஸ்யஸி கௌந்தேய தத்குருஷ்வ மத³ர்பணம் ॥ 27 ॥
Meaning
யத் — whatever; கரோஷி — you do; யத் — whatever; அஶ்னாஸி — you eat; யத் — whatever; ஜுஹோஷி — you offer; த³தா³ஸி — you give away; யத் — whatever; யத் — whatever; தபஸ்யஸி — austerities you perform; கௌந்தேய — O son of Kuntī; தத் — that; குருஷ்வ — do; மத் — unto Me; அர்பணம் — as an offering.
Translation
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform – do that, O son of Kuntī, as an offering to Me.
ஶ்லோக:
ஶஉபா⁴ஶஉப⁴ப²லைரேவம் மோக்ஷ்யஸே கர்மப³ந்த⁴னை: ।
ஸன்ன்யாஸயோக³யுக்தாத்மா விமுக்தோ மாமுபைஷ்யஸி ॥ 28 ॥
Meaning
ஶுப⁴ — from auspicious; அஶுப⁴ — and inauspicious; ப²லை: — results; ஏவம் — thus; மோக்ஷ்யஸே — you will become free; கர்ம — of work; ப³ந்த⁴னை: — from the bondage; ஸன்ன்யாஸ — of renunciation; யோக³ — the yoga; யுக்த-ஆத்மா — having the mind firmly set on; விமுக்த: — liberated; மாம் — to Me; உபைஷ்யஸி — you will attain.
Translation
In this way you will be freed from bondage to work and its auspicious and inauspicious results. With your mind fixed on Me in this principle of renunciation, you will be liberated and come to Me.
ஶ்லோக:
ஸமோஹம் ஸர்வபூ⁴தேஷு ந மே த்³வேஷ்யோஸ்தி ந ப்ரிய: ।
யே பஜ⁴ந்தி து மாம் ப⁴க்த்யஆ மயி தே தேஷு சாப்யஹம் ॥ 29 ॥
Meaning
ஸம: — equally disposed; அஹம் — I; ஸர்வ-பூ⁴தேஷு — to all living entities; ந — no one; மே — to Me; த்³வேஷ்ய: — hateful; அஸ்தி — is; ந — nor; ப்ரிய: — dear; யே — those who; பஜ⁴ந்தி — render transcendental service; து — but; மாம் — unto Me; ப⁴க்த்யா — in devotion; மயி — are in Me; தே — such persons; தேஷு — in them; ச — also; அபி — certainly; அஹம் — I.
Translation
I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him.
ஶ்லோக:
அபி சேத்ஸுது³ராசாரோ பஜ⁴தே மாமனந்யபா⁴க் ।
ஸாது⁴ரேவ ஸ மந்தவ்ய: ஸம்யக்³வ்யவஸிதோ ஹி ஸ: ॥ 3௦ ॥
Meaning
அபி — even; சேத் — if; ஸு-து³ராசார: — one committing the most abominable actions; பஜ⁴தே — is engaged in devotional service; மாம் — unto Me; அனந்ய-பா⁴க் — without deviation; ஸாது⁴: — a saint; ஏவ — certainly; ஸ: — he; மந்தவ்ய: — is to be considered; ஸம்யக் — completely; வ்யவஸித: — situated in determination; ஹி — certainly; ஸ: — he.
Translation
Even if one commits the most abominable action, if he is engaged in devotional service he is to be considered saintly because he is properly situated in his determination.
ஶ்லோக:
க்ஷிப்ரம் ப⁴வதி த⁴ர்மாத்மா ஶஶ்வச்சா²ந்திம் நிக³ச்ச²தி ।
கௌந்தேய ப்ரதிஜானீஹி ந மே ப⁴க்த: ப்ரணஶ்யதி ॥ 31 ॥
Meaning
க்ஷிப்ரம் — very soon; ப⁴வதி — becomes; த⁴ர்ம-ஆத்மா — righteous; ஶஶ்வத்-ஶாந்திம் — lasting peace; நிக³ச்சதி — attains; கௌந்தேய — O son of Kuntī; ப்ரதிஜானீஹி — declare; ந — never; மே — My; ப⁴க்த: — devotee; ப்ரணஶ்யதி — perishes.
Translation
He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace. O son of Kuntī, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes.
ஶ்லோக:
மாம் ஹி பார்த² வ்யபாஶ்ரித்ய யேபி ஸ்யு: பாபயோனய: ।
ஸ்த்ரியோ வைஶ்யாஸ்ததா² ஶஊத்³ராஸ்தேபி யாந்தி பராம் க³திம் ॥ 32 ॥
Meaning
மாம் — of Me; ஹி — certainly; பார்த² — O son of Prithā; வ்யபாஶ்ரித்ய — particularly taking shelter; யே — those who; அபி — also; ஸ்யு: — are; பாப-யோனய: — born of a lower family; ஸ்த்ரிய: — women; வைஶ்யா: — mercantile people; ததா² — also; ஶூத்³ரா: — lower-class men; தே அபி — even they; யாந்தி — go; பராம் — to the supreme; க³திம் — destination.
Translation
O son of Prithā, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth – women, vaiśyas [merchants] and śūdras [workers] – can attain the supreme destination.
ஶ்லோக:
கிம் புனர்ப்³ராஹ்மணா: புண்யா ப⁴க்தா ராஜர்ஷயஸ்ததா² ।
அனித்யமஸுக²ம் லோகமிமம் ப்ராப்ய பஜ⁴ஸ்வ மாம் ॥ 33 ॥
Meaning
கிம் — how much; புன: — again; ப்³ராஹ்மணா: — brāhmaṇas; புண்யா: — righteous; ப⁴க்தா: — devotees; ராஜ-ருஷய: — saintly kings; ததா² — also; அனித்யம் — temporary; அஸுக²ம் — full of miseries; லோகம் — planet; இமம் — this; ப்ராப்ய — gaining; பஜ⁴ஸ்வ — be engaged in loving service; மாம் — unto Me.
Translation
How much more this is so of the righteous brāhmaṇas, the devotees and the saintly kings. Therefore, having come to this temporary, miserable world, engage in loving service unto Me.
ஶ்லோக:
மன்மனா ப⁴வ மத்³ப⁴க்தோ மத்³யாஜீ மாம் நமஸ்குரு ।
மாமேவைஷ்யஸி யுக்த்வைவமாத்மானம் மத்பராயண: ॥ 34 ॥
Meaning
மத்-மனா: — always thinking of Me; பவ⁴ — become; மத் — My; ப⁴க்த: — devotee; மத் — My; யாஜீ — worshiper; மாம் — unto Me; நமஸ்-குரு — offer obeisances; மாம் — unto Me; ஏவ — completely; ஏஷ்யஸி — you will come; யுக்த்வா — being absorbed; ஏவம் — thus; ஆத்மானம் — your soul; மத்-பராயண: — devoted to Me.
Translation
Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, offer obeisances to Me and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.
